Capone is available for adoption at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter

It’s Mr. “Capone,” Please!

ID# A1467019

He may have a tough guy name and a stare that might make you back away, but never would you be more mistaken.  Capone, who is a 3 year old, neutered American Pit Bull Terrier, is one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever nee.  Capone was found as a stray on March 30, 2014.  He has a severe case of mange which had caused him to lose most of the fur on his back.  He was put on intensive treatment, has now recovered and the hair is growing back.

During the many weeks that Capone was kept in the medical area of the shelter, he made many friends.  In spite of the horrific strife that he must have been subjected to before coming to the shelter, he was one of the most gentle, loving dogs that the staff had ever seen.  He quickly became a staff favorite.

Now that Capone’s mange is under control, he is in the general population.  He is very easy to handle and walks well on-leash.  He is a little shy but warms up quickly.  He is crate trained and loves being in the crate, especially if there is a bully stick for him to chew on.  He knows the Sit and Down commands, has a very soft mouth and loves to be with people.  See Capone in action!

He was introduced to Dakota, a very mellow female Pit, and he did fine, although a little unsure of himself.  Capone is a very special dog who needs a very special home.  He has endured enough pain in this short life; now is his time to find love and safety in a forever home.  Please help this great dog find that special home!  When contacting the shelter for more information about Capone, be sure to use his ID# A1467019 as a reference.  Photo/video credit:  Debbie Fan, Twitter @blackjackbarks
