**** PET FOOD RECALL 3/8/2013 ****

Steve's Real Food of Murray, UT is recalling its 5 pound bags of "Turducken Canine Diet - 8oz Patties" because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. 

The recalled product was distributed from October 2012 through January 2013 in retail stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, California, Minnesota and Tennessee.  The product comes in 5 pound green and cream colored biodegradable film bags with lot number 209-10-27-13 with an expiration date of October 27, 2013.  No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Symptoms of Salmonella in humans: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.  More serious ailments in humans include arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms.  Consumers exhibiting these symptoms after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Symptoms of Salmonella in pets:  lethargy, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting.  Some pets may experience decreased appetite or abdominal pain.  If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has any of these signs, contact your veterinarian.
